Many thanks for joining our tours at Asakusa and Ueno Park on October 13, 2024. We welcomed 34 guests from US, Canada, Poland, Korea, China, Australia, Ireland, Argentina and UK. It was a tremendous opportunity for us to meet wonderful guests from many countries and share interesting conversations. As promised, group photos and snapshots are attached so that you can remember the fun times we had during the tour.
October 14 is Sports Day, a national holiday. Sports Day was first established in 1966 and was originally celebrated on October 10 to commemorate the opening date of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Since 2000, it has been set on the second Monday of October according to the “Happy Monday” system. Many schools in Japan hold athletic meets called undokai, which are one of the unique Japanese culture. The origins of undokai date back to the Meiji era, when a sports event was held at the Marine Corps School. It is believed to have been inspired by a similar event at Oxford University in England. Participation in undokai is generally mandatory for all students, as they are regarded as major school events.

The combined tour with Asakusa in the morning and Ueno Park in the afternoon is not mandated, but it is just our recommendation. You can choose either of the tours as you wish.
