Tour Report of Asakusa on April 19, 2025

Asakusa

Many thanks for joining Tokyo Free Walking Tour at Asakusa on April 19, 2025. We welcomed 16 guests from Australia, US, Germany, Russia, UK, China, Italy and Switzerland. It was a tremendous opportunity for us to meet wonderful guests from many countries and share interesting conversations. As promised, group photos and snapshots are attached so that you can remember the fun times we had during the tour.

Easter falls on April 20th this year. However, unlike Christmas or Valentine’s Day, it has not become widely popular in Japan. One major reason is that Easter is a Christian holiday, and Christianity is a minority religion in Japan. As a result, most people are unfamiliar with its religious significance. Also, Easter traditions like egg hunts and the Easter Bunny are not part of Japanese culture. Instead, Japanese people already enjoy spring through customs like cherry blossom viewing. Another reason is that the date of Easter changes every year, making it harder to promote and plan compared to fixed-date holidays like Halloween or Christmas. While some companies try to introduce Easter products, it remains a minor event with limited interest.
