Meiji Shrine and Harajuku

Will Your Wish Come True? Tour Report of Meiji Jingu Shrine and Harajuku Town, 24 April 2025

Meiji Shrine and Harajuku

Many thanks to the guests who participated in the tour by Tokyo Free Walking Tour on that day. On that day we hosted 14 guests from Australia, USA, South Africa and UK. It was cloudy early in the morning but later the sky became clear and getting hotter. It seems summer is coming closer day by day.

We hope all of you enjoyed and shared interesting conversations with us during the tour. As promised, group photos and snapshots are attached to remember the fun times we shared.

During the shrine tour, our guests learnt how Japanese shrines or temples attract visitors by knowing some traditional customs done at such places. The shrine is where you make a prayer so that you can make your wish come true.

Usually before you pray, you wash your hands and mouth before making a prayer as we usually instruct at the site.

When you make a wish, you write your wish on a tablet or paper to put into an envelope and then toss that into the box at the shrine.

What kind of wish did you make? Success in business, health of you or your family, or else?

But do you believe such wish can come true by praying at a shrine or temple?

One of the guides of Tokyo Free Walking Tour did make a wish come true by doing so. He stayed at a famous ski resort town, Niseko in Hokkaido prefecture last December for a month.

During his stay, he had to drive a car on icy roads every day over there so he came to Meiji Jingu shrine to pray for drive safe and bought the amulet of the shrine before leaving for Hokkaido because the shrine is well-known for blessing a car for drive safe.

Then he drove a car every day over there afterwards. Thanks to the prayer, he got no accident although the roads were slippery and it was the very first time for him to drive on such roads in his life.

Maybe because he became very careful in driving there but he may have been protected by the god of the shrine. It may be said that he became more conscious about drive safe by making a prayer at the shrine. At least making a prayer gave you a good psychological effect.

So it is better to make a prayer at the shrine than doing nothing.

If you want to make a wish or make yourself feel like working hard towards the goal, why not join our tours to Meiji Jingu Shrine, Sensoji temple or some other temple or shrine at Ueno Park?

We can help you make your wish come true!!
