Many thanks for joining Tokyo Free Walking tour at Asakusa and Ueno Park on April 27, 2025. We welcomed 33 guests from Russia, Italy, China, France, Austria, Canada, USA and Serbia. It was a tremendous opportunity for us to meet wonderful guests from many countries and share interesting conversations. As promised, group photos and snapshots are attached so that you can remember the fun times we had during the tour.

Today, the weather was very pleasant, perfect for a walking tour. Golden Week is from April 26 to May 6. Some people take 11 consecutive days off. April 29 is called ‘Showa Day’. ‘Greenery Day’ was established following the death of Emperor Showa in 1989. Later, in 2007, in order to preserve the name ‘Showa,’ April 29, which had been Greenery Day, was renamed ‘Showa Day,’ and Greenery Day was moved to May 4. May 3 is ‘Constitution Memorial Day’. It was established by the Holiday Act, which was enacted and enforced in 1948, to commemorate the enforcement of the Constitution of Japan on May 3, 1947.
May 5, known as Children’s Day, was originally celebrated as ‘Tango no Sekku,’ a day to honor the birth and growth of boys. However, in 1948, it was newly established as a national holiday called ‘Children’s Day,’ with the meaning of respecting children’s personalities, promoting their happiness, and expressing gratitude to mothers. Today, it is a day to pray for the health and happiness of all children, regardless of gender. If you would like to learn more about Golden Week, please join our tour and share your thoughts with us.
The combined tour with Asakusa in the morning and Ueno Park in the afternoon is not mandated, but it is just our recommendation. You can choose either of the tours as you wish.
