Summertime in the East Garden of the Imperial Palace; Tour Report of 21 June 2025

East Gardens of the Imperial Palace

Thank you to the guests who participated in the tour of the day. On that tour, we hosted 11 guests from USA, UK, China, Mexico, Singapore and France. It was a sunny and hot day. We enjoyed the tour with remaining irises in the garden.

These are the photos taken during the tour to recall the fun time we shared together.

Summer has already began so it is getting hotter day by day. So if you are planning to visit Japan soon, please be prepared to bring water and cooling pads or sheets during outdoor activities so that you do not get too much heat inside your body.

Since we guide guests through the imperial palace, residence of Japan’s imperial family, you might wonder how His majesty and his family members spend their summertime. Are they stuck in such a heated city?

Actually the imperial family has some other residences than the one in Tokyo. There is one on lakeside of Inawashiro Lake, Fukushima prefecture. It has been used as a villa for the imperial family for more than a century.

The interior is just as gorgeous as you can imagine.

This is a very traditional Japanese style house. You have to kneel on the floor.

Next to it is a western style house built in the same period, which is very gorgeous as well with its very classical exterior and interior.

Inside they could rest viewing the mountain through the window.

This is the way the imperial family spend summer vacation because they are the most privileged people in this nation.

Why not come to join the tour of Tokyo Free Walking Tour to know more about life of the imperial family in Japan? We have good knowledge of this topic.
