Tour Information

A brand-new tour at Yanaka&Nezu on Nov 1st and 20th

Tour Information

Tokyo Free Waking Tour is delighted to inform you that we are going to begin a new tour at Yanaka & Nezu, adjacent to Ueno Park in Tokyo. There will be trial tours twice on November 1st(Sat) and 20th(Thu) at 2pm. Meeting place will be outside the West Exit of JR Nippori Station. Drop off location: Nezu Shrine. Duration: two hours
Since there was little damage from natural disasters and wars at Yanaka & Nezu, old houses and stores remain. Some old houses have been renovated and converted into cafes and galleries. We will walk through traditional Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street, the rare earthen wall. quiet cemetery, temple town, hidden backstreets, and visit the beautiful Nezu Shrine.

Yanaka Ginza still retains a strong atmosphere of the Edo to Showa period and is an ordinary shopping place for local people where you can have a glimpse of their life. Yanaka is a town of cats which will welcome visitors. The 38-meter earthen wall is amazing.

After passing the hidden backstreets, Nezu Shrine is a gorgeous shrine and the source of local pride. Many buildings are designated Japan’s important properties which will impress visitors and the red torii gates are breathtaking.

Our recommendation is first to join Asakusa tour in the morning and Yanaka & Nezu Tour in the afternoon on Nov 1st or 20th. Asakusa tour will be held from 10:00am to 11:30am. Take the Ginza Line from Asakusa Station to Ueno Station (3rd stop, 5 minutes) and change to the JR Yamanote Line to JR Nippori Station (2nd stop, 4 minutes). The meeting place will be just outside West Exit of JR Nippori Station. The departure time for Yanaka & Nezu tour will be 2pm. You will have sufficient time for lunch. Of course, you may join Yanaka & Nezu tour directly as you wish. After the November trial tours, the tour will take place twice a month from December.

See the attached details for the meeting place. This is a unique opportunity for you to experience the everyday life of Japanese people, earthen wall, cemetery, backstreets, and a beautiful shrine simultaneously. We are looking forward to your reservation and meeting you.
