Spring is one of the most beautiful seasons in Japan. Many people visit Japan to see cherry blossoms, called sakura. During the daytime, parks and streets are full of people enjoying the flowers. However, there is another special way to enjoy them: yozakura, or night cherry blossoms.
Yozakura means looking at cherry blossoms at night. In many parks, lanterns or lights are placed near the trees. The soft light makes the pink flowers look even more beautiful and a little magical.

One famous place to see yozakura is Ueno Park in Tokyo. During the cherry blossom season, many lanterns are hung along the path. Visitors can walk under the trees and enjoy the flowers at night. Some people bring food and drinks and have a small picnic with friends or family.

Another popular place is Sumida Park near Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. You can see beautiful cherry blossoms along the river. At night, the flowers are illuminated, and the atmosphere becomes very romantic.

Many Japanese people enjoy both daytime cherry blossoms and night cherry blossoms. The daytime atmosphere is lively and cheerful, while the nighttime atmosphere is calm and peaceful.
If you visit Japan in spring, we recommend experiencing yozakura at least once. Walking under cherry blossom trees at night is a very special memory of Japan.
