June 30 marked the official start of summer at shrines across Japan, when people take part in Chinowa-Kuguri—the ancient ritual of passing through a giant wreath made of miscanthus grass to wash away the past six months’ impurities and pray for health and good fortune in the months ahead. For those preparing for rain, a lucky break in this rainy season has delivered clear skies and relatively dry conditions, thanks to a strong breeze from the Wind God at Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate).The unexpectedly powerful, mid-summer-like sunshine created cool shade beneath the trees. Where is the rainy season? We had a hot day like in mid-summer already but were able to have joyful tours in Asakusa and Ueno Park. A Lucky Rainy Season Day with Cheerful Family Parties: the June 14th Tour in Asakusa

Thank you for finding us and joining our tours. This day, we welcomed two family groups and one solo drop-in guest all from the United States. The younger members were right through their final exam periods and looked especially eased and relaxed.  The rainy season in now on in Tokyo.
