East Gardens of the Imperial Palace

It’s crazy hot! Tour Report: July 20th at East Garden of Imperial Palace

East Gardens of the Imperial Palace

It’s crazy hot! Summer has hit Tokyo. Today there’s a heatstroke alert.
But we still went ahead with our walking tour.

Safety first, of course! We emailed everyone who booked to explain the situation. Here’s what we said:

-Info about the heatstroke alert and what it means
-Tips to prevent heatstroke
-Honestly, it’s probably too hot to walk comfortably today
-Recommended cancellations for kids, elderly, and people with health issues
-Recommended cancellations for those without travel medical insurance

We wanted everyone to have the right info so they could decide for themselves.
One guest replied:
“Thanks for the info. I’ll follow your advice and cancel.”
Another guest said:
“I’ll stay super hydrate and join the tour.”

In the end, eight guests showed up, so we started the tour with five volunteer guides. Eight tourists and five local guides. Our tours aren’t just about following a guide and listening; you get to chat with regular Japanese people about culture, daily life, hobbies, family, and all sorts of stuff while walking. That’s what makes our tours awesome.

I’ve been rambling about the heat, so I’ll skip the tour details, but despite the heat, everyone had a blast and made it to the end. The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace used to be a real shogun’s castle. Shoguns are pretty popular lately. I like Hiroyuki Sanada too. We shared stories about the castle’s history while walking through the ruins. We loved the interactions between guests and guides, and some guests even became friends, which made us happy.

Japan has something to enjoy in every season. Summer is hot, but fireworks, yukatas, and climbing Mt. Fuji are awesome. But it’s been hot all over the world lately, so everyone, stay cool and take care!
