Thank you to those who participated in Tokyo Free Walking Tour at Meiji Shrine and Harajuku. We welcomed six guests from New Zealand, India, Iran, and Singapore. Some guests have been living in Japan for many years and know very well about Japan. The other guests visited Ryogoku Arena to watch the Grand Sumo Tournament. They said that it was so hard to get the tickets. The topics with our guests are various, and the talks are so interesting that we often learn many new things about Japan from them.
Tokyo Free Walking Tour is a small group tour with multiple guides in Tokyo, so that guests could enjoy more and more friendly conversations with local guides. Why don’t you explore Tokyo and Japan with us?
The group photos and snapshots are as follows:

Today, we found “Fuku-mame beans” on sale in front of the Ema section. On the first day of Spring, people throw beans outside saying “Evils OUT,” and throw beans towards inside saying “Fortune IN.” People believe that they can chase evils out and bring fortune in by throwing beans. This custom is called “Setsubun” which means the division of seasons between winter and spring. After throwing beans, people eat the same number of beans as their age plus one, and then they can have a healthy and happy year.
There are not only bean throwing, but also some other customs such as silently eating an uncut sushi roll towards a specific direction, or attaching a grilled sardine head impaled on a holly branch, on a front door. The ways of praying are different from region to region, but what people pray for is always the same, a happy and healthy life!
Your comments or feedback are always important and helpful to us all. If you enjoyed our tour, please consider posting a review on our Facebook, homepage, Instagram etc. Once again, thank you very much for joining Tokyo Free Walking Tour during your precious time in Tokyo. Please don’t forget to share your experiences with your families and friends when you go back home!
