The East Garden of the Imperial Palace on 12th July. How to avoid the sun.

The East Garden of the Imperial Palace on 12th July. How to avoid the sun.

Thank you for choosing our tour at the East Garden of the Imperial Palace on 12th July. We welcomed 23 guests from USA, Canada, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Italy and Philippines. I hope all of you enjoyed and shared interesting conversations with us during the tour. As promised, group photos and snapshots are attached to remember the fun times we had.

Nice shade under the green wisteria by pond.

It was HOT and HUMID !!

We tried to stay in shade as much as possible but we had to be kept hydrated. Notice the boy is holding an umbrella to use as a parasol. It’s one good option. Be sure to wear a hat or cap and bring something to drink during the tour.

The official Imperial Walking Tour was cancelled due to this severe heat condition. We also are to cancel our tour during mid-summer. Please plan ahead.

Ceremony of the Presentation of Credentials was held on that day at Imperial Palace. It is a ceremony that a newly appointed ambassador present his/her credential to Emperor in Palace. They ride either a state carriage or a car from Tokyo station. It is such a privilege to be on a state carriage so most of ambassadors chose to be chauffeured with it. But it was too hot for horses and the ambassador rode limousine car with air condition.

During tour, we always welcome drop-ins. Group B started with 3 gusts. But 2 guests dropped out soon after started walking because they had jetlag and looked pale from the beginning. Do join the walking tour when you are feeling strong. We continued with 1 guest and then welcomed 10 drop-in guests in the garden. Actually, when you visit the East Garden, you come to realize that you are looking at huge greenery area but there is not enough information of historical background of this area. With our tour, you will see the whole place with new aspect. That’s what a guide can do. Please look forward to that.
