It was sunny and perfect weather for the tour. The Golden Week holidays begin today. Golden Week includes 4 national holidays; Showa Day (April 29th), Constitution Day (May 3rd), Greenery Day (May 4th), and Children’s Day (May 5th). Golden Week lasts at most 9 days this year. We were looking forward to a holiday without corona restrictions for three years. Today is Showa Day, it honors the birthday of Emperor Showa (Hirohito; from 1926 to 1989). Many people are expected to enjoy traveling, dining, and shopping. We hope the world economy will be revitalized again.

Our guests were interested in a miniature model of Edo Castle. The castle was built by the Tokugawa shogunate from 1600 to 1868. During that time, the main tower was rebuilt three times. The Imperial Household Agency made a replica of the third version of the structure built by shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. The model is about 1/30th the size of the real one. The replica is on show at a rest area in the Honmaru main compound.
