【a variety of pink blossoms】
At present, plum blossoms are in full bloom in the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. Today, a guest asked me, “I heard that Japanese people would enjoy Hanami during the cherry blossom season. How about during the plum blossom season ?” We call cherry blossom viewing “Hanami” in Japanese. Hanami is like a picnic to enjoy cherry blossoms. People get together under cherry blossom trees and enjoy food and drinks.
Plum blossoms are as beautiful as cherry blossoms, but I have never heard of Hanami under plum blossom trees. It is probably because of a climate. Plum blossoms usually become in full bloom from the end of January to mid-February, which is coldest time of year in Japan. Nobody enjoy Hanami under such a chilly condition.
The guest who asked the previous question showed me a photo of beautiful pink colored flower field in her country, Spain. It was a flower garden of peach blossoms, whose color was deep pink and really vivid. Someday in the future, I would like to go on a journey in search of a variety of pink flowers like peach blossoms, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms.
