Meiji Shrine and Harajuku

The honor of receiving the Imperial Messenger : Tour report of Meiji Shrine and Harajuku Tour on Nov 3rd, 2024

Meiji Shrine and Harajuku

On behalf of our guides, I just wanted to send a few words of gratitude. Thank you for
joining our tour at Meiji Shrine and Harajuku on Nov 3rd. We welcomed 22 guests
from USA, Germany, Singapore, Canada, Denmark, Italy, UK And France. The group was divided into four teams.
This day was a sharp contrast to the previous day, with clear skies and a slightly sweaty temperature, so we enjoyed walking through the forest filled with signs of autumn and through the lively town.
We’ve posted group photos and snapshots so that you can look back on the fun times we had.

This day, November 3rd, is Culture Day, but it is actually the birthday of Emperor Meiji, who is enshrined at Meiji Shrine. Therefore, to commemorate this day, a grand autumn festival will be held from November 1st to 3rd in the shrine. Events such as Archery, Aikido, and Yabusame (Japanese Horseback Archery) were held. We also enjoyed a lot of chrysanthemum displays.

During this period, imperial envoys are welcomed to the shrine. There are approximately 80,000 shrines in Japan, but only 16 shrines welcome imperial envoys. We were lucky to have encountered it.
