Ueno Park

The spectacular Shinobazu Pond lotus flowers, the Ueno Park Tour on June 26

Ueno Park

Thank you for joining the Ueno Park tour on June 26. We welcomed three people from Netherlands and America. The weather was fine in the middle of rainy season. We hope you enjoyed walking and having conversation with us. The photos we took during the tour are posted for your memory.

Ueno Park is rich in nature and boasts seasonal plants and flowers throughout the year. The park is particularly known for cherry blossoms in spring and in summer the lotus flowers of the Shinobazu Pond is eye-catching. Lotus flowers are now growing quickly. Some have bloomed but most others haven’t bloomed yet.

Lotus viewing is summer tradition. They are expected to be in full bloom in the middle of July which will continue until the middle of August for about a month. You can enjoy viewing beautiful pink flowers all around in green leaves.

The above pictures show the Shinobazu Pond as of now (June 26, 2024) and July 16, 2023. In the center you can see the Bentendo Temple.

Please keep in mind that the lotuses open early in the morning and close its petals in the afternoon, so make sure to go there in the early morning. Since the temperature is relatively low and there aren’t many people walking at that time, early morning walk around the pond while viewing lotuses is recommended. The early bird gets the worm.

There is a walkway jotting out in the south of the pond. The flowers can be seen up close from there. You may feel as if you are walking on the pond. The landscape of beautiful lotus flowers filling the area is absolutely fantastic.

Flowering peak will be from the middle of July to the middle of August. Do not forget to go in the early morning. Ueno Park is one of the best lotus viewing spots near the terminal station (Ueno Station) in Tokyo. It’s a must-see spot. Of course admission is free.

You may combine your visit with our Ueno Park tours. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you at other occasions.
