Tour Report of Meiji Shrine & Harajuku on September 15, 2024

Meiji Shrine and Harajuku

Thank you to those who participated in the Tokyo Free Walking Tour (TFWT) at Meiji Shrine & Harajuku.  We welcomed 18 guests from the USA, Israel, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Australia, and Brazil.  Some of them joined the East Garden of Imperial Palace tour one day before.  We are always welcome back to our tours.  We hope you all enjoyed and shared interesting and informative conversations with each other during the tour.

Here are the group photos and snapshots:

Some guests had fun drawing “Omikuji” (fortune-telling paper). The others were so lucky to meet by chance the Japanese traditional wedding procession.

Ota Memorial Museum of Art is one spot of this tour.  The next exhibition is “HIROSHIGE Blue.”  Hiroshige blue has one of the most important elements in Ukiyo-e (wood-block prints), for example the sunny sky, twilight, the sea, waves, and Mt. Fuji.   In addition to the original indigo blue dye, the import of the affordable chemical blue dye, “Berlin blue” accelerated Ukiyo-e artists to create many kinds of blue.

Please check out the following web site so that you can enjoy the variety of Hiroshige blue painted in Ukiyo-e.
