Thank you for joining our tour of the East Garden of the Imperial Palace on the 8th of January. We welcomed 5 guests from USSR, HongKong and New Zealand. I hope all of you enjoyed and shared interesting conversations with us during the tour. As promised, the photos are attached to remember the fun time we had.
It was a little cold, but the air was sunny and the sky was blue. Some plum trees started to bloom and they have shown us the announcement of spring.
If you stay in Japan during the New Year, you may have seen this object at a Japanese restaurant or hotel. This is one of the New Year’s decorations called Kagami-Mochi and can be decorated in each home.Kagami-Mochi is a set of rice cakes, and it is meant to be an offering to the god in the new year.
After the new year’s days, we bring it down, cut them, and eat them, hoping to be healthy and happy throughout the year. The day of eating kagami -mochi varies depending on the area, but it will be held around Tokyo on January 11th.
