Ueno Park

Ueno Tour on Jan.15th; Pleasant day with lots of culture and history

Ueno Park

On behalf of our guides, I just wanted to send a few words of gratitude. Thank you for joining our tour at Ueno Park on January 15th.

We welcomed a guest from Indonesia who lives in Japan. She was very interested in Japanese culture and history and asked us many questions. She said “Mottainai, What a waste! in English, without knowing Japan while visiting”. That’s true!! We had a great time talking with her in the wonderful weather like early spring. We’ve posted group photos and snapshots to look back on the fun times we had.

Now Winter Peny Festival is being held at Ueno Toshogu Peony Garden. It is the largest class of 160 winter peonies of 40 varieties. They are protected by a “straw roof” to prevent them from freezing.

In addition, you can enjoy other winter flowers and auspicious items for new year time. For example, a flower cart loaded with seasonal flowers is used as an auspicious pattern for kimonos. It has the meaning of “inviting happiness “and expresses the people’s wishing for blessings. The fingered citron is called Buddha’s hand in many languages as it resembles the shape of hands put together.

Ueno Toshogu Peony Garden was opened in 1980 to commemorate the friendship between Japan and China. The festival runs until February 24. Why don’t you join TFWT’s Ueno tour, drop by the garden afterward and enjoy full of greenery in the center of Tokyo?

Once again, thank you so much for joining us on our tour. We always make efforts to improve our tours and highly appreciate your feedback on our TripAdvisor/Facebook etc. Your comments motivate us to continue our volunteer activities. Please tell your family and friends about how you enjoyed our tour. Please join another one of our tours, East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, Meiji Shrine/Harajuku. We’d love to see you again!!
