This is a watercolor painting of Tokyo Station painted by Canadian guest who joined the TFWT tour. He retired from his job in construction and now enjoys traveling with his wife while painting, and it was so beautiful. I thought it must have been a professional painter.
The couple participated in all four TFWT tours, for which we are very happy and appreciated.

Autumn is known as the season for reading, sports, and appetite. I would like to introduce some Japanese foods related to appetite. Did you enjoy Japanese cuisine?
These are famous four major Japanese foods. As you already know, they are Sushi, tempura, unagi and soba. These dishes originated in Tokyo, so there are many delicious restaurants near Tokyo.
Regarding sushi, some of the common types of nigirizushi, in which hand-molded portions of vinegared rice are topped with slices of raw fish, shellfish, and other ingredients.
A small dab of wasabi (Japanese horseradish) is usually placed between the rice and the topping.
There are also very popular chains of “conveyer-belt” sushi restaurants
where you grab small plates of two sushi off the conveyer belt in front of you
or call out a special order if you do not see what you want on the belt.

Tempura is seafood or vegetables that have been covered in batter and fried in oil. The batter is made by dissolving flour and egg in water. Shrimp tempura is very popular with visitors from overseas and I like it best. You can order seasonal vegetable tempura and other tempura items.
Please eat the tempura by dipping it into the tempura sauce.
Unagi is a bit more expensive than other local meals and as such it is mainly reserved for those special occasions. In summer, eating unagi is believed to help restore vitality and strength.
Unagi no Kabayaki is a popular way to enjoy eel, grilled with a sweet and savory sauce. The slightly sweet sauce is mainly a mixture of soy sauce, sake and sugar. Every unagi restaurant has its own secret recipe for the sauce. It has been passed over multiple generations.
Soba are brown noodles made from buckwheat flour. The noodles can be eaten in hot broth, or cold after being dipped in a special sauce. Known as zaru soba, the cold soba dish is eaten by first dipping the long noodles into a dipping sauce to which wasabi (Japanese horseradish) and green onions are often added.
In our tour, I talked Japanese food with guest because they are very interested. And more, there are other many delicious Japanese foods. So let us try every dishes while staying in Japan.
