Witnessing a Beautiful Carriage Parade! March 8;The East Garden of the Imperial Palace

East Gardens of the Imperial Palace

Thank you for joining our tour of the East Garden of the Imperial Palace on March 8th. We were delighted to have six guests from the UK and the US on that day.

We were fortunate enough to witness a very unusual parade on that day. It was a procession of traditional carriage carrying foreign ambassadors who were going to attend the imperial ceremony at the Palace.

The first carriage procession dispatched by the Imperial Household Agency left Tokyo Station’s Imperial Entrance at 10:00 a.m. carrying the newly appointed ambassador of Fiji to the Imperial Palace.

The use of carriages for transportation has been suspended since March 2020 to prevent people from gathering along the route due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The carriage procession we witnessed was the first in three years.

It was a beautiful morning with clear skies and a pleasant breeze. With cherry blossom season just around the corner, we are eagerly anticipating its arrival. We hope that you have enjoyed our tour.
