On December 21st, we held a special walking tour visiting two of Tokyo’s most iconic spiritual sites: Meiji Shrine and Nezu Shrine.
Meiji Shrine: A Peaceful Forest in the City
We began our journey at Meiji Shrine, a grand oasis dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Surrounded by a lush forest of over 100,000 trees, it’s hard to believe you are in the heart of Tokyo. Our guests enjoyed the serene atmosphere and learned about the shrine’s history and Shinto traditions.
Nezu Shrine: The Beauty of the “Senbon Torii”
After exploring Meiji Shrine, we traveled to Nezu Shrine, one of Japan’s oldest and most beautiful shrines. A highlight for everyone was the Senbon Torii (Thousand Torii Gates). Walking through the tunnel of vibrant vermillion gates offered a stunning and photogenic experience that rivaled the famous sights of Kyoto.

Tour Highlights and Guest Interaction
On this day, we were joined by guests from around the world. It was a wonderful opportunity to share Japanese culture, from the ritual of “temizu” (purifying hands with water) to the meaning behind the different shrine architectures.
The weather was perfect for a winter walk, and the conversations between the guests and our guides made the day truly special.
As December deepens, Tokyo is growing colder—and more festive.
