AsakusaReportYanaka and Nezu

Enjoy the Yanaka Antique Market, Asakusa and Yanaka & Nezu Tours on January 22.

Asakusa

Your participation in our tours in Asakusa and Yanaka & Nezu tours on January 22 are greatly appreciated. 9 guests were welcomed from Spain, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. It’s one of the coldest days in this winter, but sunny. Some of our guests kindly joined both of Asakusa and Yanaka & Nezu tours. As promised the photos which we took during the tours are posted.

In the historic town of Yanaka with its good old streetscape, an antique market is sometimes held, offering the opportunity to encounter good old and charming items. The venue, Enmei-in(meaning longevity) Temple, is a temple with 400 years of history dating back to the early Edo period and appears to have had ties to the Tokugawa family, who ruled Japan during the period.

The Antique Market is expected to have around 50 stalls each day, and you may find your favorite antique accessories, jewelries, ceramics, dolls etc. It’s worth taking a look. Also, a grand chinquapin tree (a designated Tokyo Metropolitan natural treasure) stands on the premises, hanging over the grounds and is said to be 600 years old.

Conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from Nippori Station in the direction of Yanaka Ginza. After enjoying the Antique Market, it will be great fun to stroll around the traditional shopping street, old temples, old-house cafes, galleries. back streets etc. at Yanaka.

The next antique market will be held on February 11th,  March 7th and March 8th from 10am to 3:30pm, and is expected to be held twice a month thereafter. It will be cancelled in the event of rain. Free admission.

Again, thank you for your participation and we look forward to seeing you in many future occasions.
