Thank you for spending your valuable time in our tours in Asakusa and Yanaka & Nezu on December 6th. We welcomed 19 people from France, Israel, America, Mexico, Brunei and Australia. Some of our guests kindly joined both tours. It was a bit cold in the beginning of winter but not too bad. The photos we took during the tours are posted.

The Yanaka & Nezu tour is a new tour for Tokyo Fre Walking Tour and the tour has now become a regular tour after a couple of trials. It has the itinerary with full of varieties: the traditional shopping street, the Edo period earthen wall and liquor store, the Yanaka Cemetery, the hidden back streets and beautiful Nezu Shrine etc.

Yanaka people are dedicated to taking care of old buildings. Although new buildings have been built in recent years, many old houses still remain, and renovated old house cafes and other cultural facilities make us feel nostalgic for the old days of Tokyo. Cat-themed stores and cat carvings are seen on the shopping street. The disaster prevention park may be of some interests as unusual facilities. The earthen wall and liquor store from the Edo period are truly remarkable and amazing. Nezu Shrine is beautiful, not crowded, and easy to walk around. Throughout the season, the thousand Torii gates are a striking contrast to the tree colors.
The JR Nippori Station West Exit is the meeting place and Nezu Shrine is drop-off location. Duration: approximately 2 hours. Strolling time: around 2.7 kilometers including slopes and stairs.
Highlights:
*Experience the old days of the nostalgic Tokyo
*Get an insight into the Japanese life, old houses and neighborhoods
*Discover the vivid cat sculptures on the Yanaka Shopping Street
*A good opportunity to know the unusual facilities for disasters
*Discover the Edo period earthen wall and liquor shop
*Enjoy walking the back streets which are unfamiliar with tourists
*Stroll around peaceful and quiet Nezu Shrine and the vermillion torii gates
Furthermore, our friendly guides have a strong passion about our community, culture and history. Enjoy having a one-on-one conversation with them in a small group.
The next tour is scheduled on December 21st and 25th, and continues into January. Yanaka & Nezu tour is mostly to take place on the same day as the Asakusa tour. It’s recommended to combine both tours. Please refer to the tour calendar on our web site for details.
Again, thank you for your participation and we look forward to seeing you on many other occasions in the future.
